New Brunswick Parks Action Plan

In partnership with the City of New Brunswick, The Trust for Public Land (TPL) and the Rutgers Department of Landscape Architecture, EAC joined in an initiative to conduct a citywide parks assessment aimed at maximizing public spaces and parks for the benefit of citizens. The project involved community engagement, visual observations and use of a TPL park score index to assess all of the parks within the City’s borders to create a long-term Action Plan that is intended to inform efforts of city and county agencies and public councils and commissions as well as nonprofit and private organizations throughout the city.  The plan includes components that pertain to development of recreational programming, stewardship of existing parks and open spaces, enhancement of amenities in current parks, and identification of opportunities to create connections between existing outdoor recreational spaces to maximize access, particularly in geographic areas of greatest need within the city.
