Lowrie, Karen W. 2017. New Brunswick Municipal Public Access Plan Desktop Health Impact Assessment. Environmental Analysis and Communications Group, Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ.
A Rapid HIA was conducted to consider the health impacts of the Municipal Public Access Plan developed by the City of New Brunswick, New Jersey. The HIA includes a baseline assessment of population health and then examines possible health impacts associated with four primary health determinants – safety, outdoor activity, social interaction and local economic development. Recommendations include ways to mitigate potential harms and enhance positive health outcomes associated with improved access to the Raritan River that borders the city.
